One, Two, Sold!

25 Dec

We usually see auctions in either eBay or Yahoo auctions, and usually these sites have a standardized bid price, reserve price (if any) and selling price. There are some sellers who sell their stuffs on their own sites, majority of which states a finalised price.

Now, there are also some sellers who auction their items, and by the definition of the word, it means, “a publicly held sale at which property or goods are sold to the highest bidder”, which Xtitude is based on. The site mistress, Celine, lists down all the items that she is selling, and their description details would include the item name, the price she bought it at, her requested quotation range and a brief mention of the item. What I like about her site is that, there are lots of pictures of each particular item from different angles. Doesn’t it annoy you sometimes when the item you are interested in, has only a maximum of three product shots? For example, I would see a front shot of a bag in a Yahoo Auction, and that’s it. There’s no side view, no back view and most importantly, there’s no inside shot of the bag! Imagine buying that bag, and then realising that the back of it has some really chunky and cheap-looking accessory (zip colour, metal buttons, etc) that turns you off immediately?

A Heartfelt Letter

22 Dec

I was in Takashimaya the other day, looking for some appropriate gifts for some close friends. It is always during Christmas-time that you see the weirdest, wackiest and most I-have-too-much-free-time kind of gifts.

This is one of the items I saw that make me roll my eyes, yet I couldn’t help but chuckle. One thing that I don’t really understand though, is that we have been tortured by such fill-in-the-blanks close passages in school. Why would we want to re-live the experience? But I do have to state: This letter is for very lazy people, because it is printed on the back of an envelope and you just fold the blue patterned portions and you have your letter cum envelope!

Cocoa Trees Warehouse Sales

20 Dec

The Cocoa Trees office is just beside my office. It was a few months back when we noticed this really big banner framing the wall in front of the building – Chocolate Warehouse Sales. It is my third visit there today and I am proud to say that I have only spent S$10 on one variety pack. My girlfriend bought S$80 of chocolates due to a gathering with her young cousins the next day.

I went around the store, using my handphone camera to snap the more uncommon chocolates not found in supermarkets like NTUC and Cold Storage. Move your cursor over the picture for the product name.

From young, my mum has bought this for me. However, as I was pretty little, I do not know how to pronounce the name so I always called this brand the ‘Elephant Brand’. Pretty nice to call your favourite brand of chocolates such an endearing term right?

The Cocoa Trees Warehouse Sales is located in a small unit (Level 2, straight up the flight of stairs at the front) in their office at:
MEC Techno Centre, 87 Defu Lane 10 (S) 539219. Opening hours for Mondays to Fridays are 9pm to 6pm, and Saturdays are open from 9pm to 12pm.

Chocolates Galore

20 Dec

I was in Malaysia for a short trip and as usual, whenever I see a candy store, I’d invariably find myself being drawn to them. A couple of months ago, I read that there is a local ice-cream shop offering chilli chocolate flavoured ice-cream. From the interviewee, the hottness kicks in only a few seconds you have tasted the ice-cream. Surprisingly, this unique flavour is one of their best sellers. So, it was of no surprise to me when I saw this:

Chilli Chocolate

Apologies for the unclear handphone pictures as the salesperson kept looking in my direction. I must have one of those chocolate lunatic looks. We all know that fruits have been used as chocolate fillings and as flavours. The most common one would have to be orange, strawberry, green tea and kiwi.

Mango Chocolate

But have you seen these? See the last picture, I was really stunned to find such a combination.

Next up, I’ll let you know where to get some chocolates at a mini warehouse sale!
