Quick Fixes At Watsons

12 Nov

We all know that celebrities endured a lot of beauty treatments (botox injections, liposuctions and even injections to make them not sweat at their armpits) for just a few minutes walk down the red carpet. Well, they can jolly well afford to as they are rich folks.

But for us ordinary people, this is probably the closest we can get to exclusive beauty treatments. I saw the following at Watsons while I was paying for a tube of Watson’s hand cream. Extreme apologies for the blur shots as I was trying to take the pictures without the cashier noticing me.

Watson’s Frown Lines Tape

Watson’s Frownies. I didn’t get a closer look but I think it had to do with clear tape that you put over your crow’s feet to reduce them when you smile for the camera. Perhaps it is of a similar application like the double eyelid tape, except that the double eyelid tape is to create lines and the Frownies are to reduce them.

Watson’s Nipple Mask.

Yes, you didn’t make a mistake. Look, it’s even got a hole for the nipple. We all know there are masks for the face and eyes, but now the beauty sectors personnel want to make you have inner beauty as well. Seriously, this made me frown with doubt (perhaps I can try out the Frownies?). A very large percentage of us walk around with something covering our chest, underbust areas and our privates. Is there really a need to moisturize our chest? I guess only heaven knows.

Timex? I Prefer Casio

11 Nov

No doubt that Timex is a pretty big brand for watches, especially to the male demographics. However, I prefer my trusty Casio if it’s realiability. Why would I say that? My Timex watch lasted less than a year before its straps gave way. It’s a good watch but replacing the strap is not easy. The usual watch repair shops don’t carry the straps for Timex Ironman series. That means I am only have the choice of my Casio or Swatch. As someone who wear watches almost all the time until my Timex gave way, I prefer something durable and easy to fix. Why do I have to travel all the way to a service center so far away to get my watch fixed? Moreover, I got my Timex watch for free when signed up for my 4-year club membership.

Anyway, it is back to the ever reliable Casio for now. I will be on the look out for a durable digital Casio watch soon.

The New Chuppa Chups Ad

10 Nov

Their tagline was,

“The pleasures of sucking”

Now, tell me why the censorship in Singapore even allow this ad to be broadcasted? Haha. We are the nation that allowed Ben Stiller’s Zoolander movie (it was banned when the movie came out) to be shown in Singapore cinemas only last year.

Christmas Decorations Are Up

9 Nov

Every year, I couldn’t help thinking at how early the Christmas decorations are up. This year, Christmas decorations are already decorating some parts of Singapore’s streets.

How time flies. I can still remember avidly what was the highlight of my Christmas last year. A S$400 shopping allowance given to me from my boyfriend. I was practically looking for things to buy. Money wasn’t really of an issue at that time because government related jobs entitles the employee to a bonus of 2.2. Assuming your gross salary is S$2,000, this end-of-year bonus will be S$4,400 (2.2 times of S$2,000), exclusive of that current month’s salary. If based on this example, the employee will get a S$6,400 gross salary.

Really cool, ain’t it? What is S$400 compared S$6,400 (S$5,120 nett after Central Provident Fund deduction)? Haha. It’s a pity that my guy has to sacrifice a portion for his car as it was the season for giving (insurance and taxes, that is). This year, it is rumoured that the bonus will be higher than last year. I do hope it turns out to be true.

Nevertheless, the shopping moods will be high. I just hope the sales will be crazier. More discounts = happy Cyrene!
